2025 is now rumoured to be the year of LEGO Formula 1

As predicted, 2025 is shaping up to be to LEGO Formula 1 what 2024 was to LEGO Space, as the LEGO Group is rumoured to be going all-out on the sport next year.

Rumours of more LEGO Formula 1 sets in 2025 initially emerged last week, suggesting we’d see brand new cars from a theme you wouldn’t necessarily expect in LEGO City. At the time, we speculated that a full year of LEGO Formula 1 sets could be on the cards from multiple themes, much in the same way Technic, City, DREAMZzz, Friends, Art, Collectible Minifigures and more have all debuted space-themed sets in 2024.

Brick Clicker now reports that’s exactly what’s on the way in 2025, with Formula 1 sets from a spread of different themes. At the moment those include LEGO City, LEGO Technic and LEGO Speed Champions, the latter two of which would have been pretty easy to predict given they’ve both released multiple F1 cars this year already. More interesting will be exactly where else the LEGO Group might go with this concept in 2025.

Could we see an F1-themed LEGO Art set, for example? Maybe a mosaic of a famous driver, or perhaps a couple of cars on a track? Or maybe we’ll get a LEGO F1 Collectible Minifigures series with a bunch of different drivers. The possibilities are wide open, though perhaps not as expansive as with something like space, so here’s hoping the LEGO Group is cooking up a few more creative approaches to this theme.

We can at least expect more eight-wide LEGO Speed Champions F1 cars to join 76919 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Car and 76925 Aston Martin Vantage Safety Car & AMR23, and perhaps another large-scale Technic car to rival 42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance. But fingers crossed somewhere in the mix is a race track and garage – a place to display all these cars is a pretty big miss in the LEGO line-up at the moment.

All that said, this is still just a rumour for now. So, you know – pinch of salt and all that…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
