LEGO Minecraft 21281 Baby Pig’s Birthday Celebration officially revealed

The LEGO Group has revealed 21281 Baby Pig’s Birthday Celebration, an upcoming LEGO Minecraft set that includes a bunch of buildable characters and… cake. That is all.

The 351-piece model is easily one of the most unusual LEGO Minecraft sets yet, but maybe also one of the most fun, combining several buildable character mobs with a brick-built cake. The full roster includes a Creeper, a baby fox, a baby zombie, a baby llama, a baby cat and – of course – a baby pig. Each mob has at least one point of articulation, and there’s at least one surprise among them, as the Creeper is concealing a hidden stash of gunpowder.

The buildable cake, meanwhile, can be split into three pieces, so at least three of these mobs are walking away from this birthday party disappointed. Still, at least they’ve got each other to celebrate with – this is a far cry from the depressing affair that is 77046 Julian’s Birthday Party – and this way baby pig gets to play favourites when serving up their cake. (Maybe we’re reading too much into this.)

21281 Baby Pig’s Birthday Celebration will retail for just £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 when it launches on October 1. It’s not available to pre-order at LEGO.com, though – unlike the newly-revealed 71047 Dungeons & Dragons minifigures – so you’ll need to wait a couple of months to secure your copy.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
