9 LEGO sets our readers want to see remade
The LEGO Group appears to be in its era of the remake – but what iconic sets should be next on its list?
With the newly-revealed LEGO Disney 43222 Disney Castle, the return to 10320 Eldorado Fortress, and tributes to popular past themes like BIONICLE via GWPs, the LEGO Group is leaning into nostalgia and popular remakes heavily. With that in mind, we asked Brick Fanatics readers on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook what other sets they’d like to see remade.
This sparked more responses than any other questions we’ve recently put to our audience, highlighting that this nostalgia is not limited to sets that the LEGO Group has already returned to. In no particular order, here are nine sets that LEGO fans are clamouring to see released once more.
9 – 6990 Monorail Transport System
First released in 1987 for $155, LEGO Space 6990 Monorail Transport System got several votes from our readers. Going for as much as £2,876 on the secondhand market nowadays, it’s a popular set – but one that could certainly benefit from an upgrade. With new building techniques, we could get much more accurate rails, domes, and, perhaps most excitingly, a range of astronaut minifigures in the wide range of colours that are now available to us.
8 – 6762 Fort Legoredo
Another set with multiple requests from our readers, 6762 Fort Legoredo dates back to 2002. The fort has actually been tackled twice by the LEGO Group, but 6762 is the larger of the two with 673 pieces. Still, that’s relatively small when compared with the sets of several thousand pieces that we see today, so seeing a Fort Legorado on the level of scale would certainly be exciting for modern LEGO fans.
7 – 6086 Black Knight’s Castle
Everybody loves a LEGO castle, so why not revisit an old favourite? 1992’s 6086 Black Knight’s Castle originally featured various moulded elements, particularly around the base and in the walls. Similar to the remake of Eldorado Fortress, we could see those elements remade from bricks, allowing the set to include a lot more detail and depth to the overall build.
6 – 21310 Old Fishing Store
A more modern entry to the list, this LEGO Ideas set from 2017 features a lot of the similar colour schemes and ragged-style building techniques that we see on recent sets, like 21338 A-Frame Cabin, for example. Nonetheless, some readers want to see the set make its return, perhaps more to get another chance to add a new version of the set to their collection than as to change anything about the relatively modern build. 21310 Old Fishing Store is going for roughly double its original price on the secondhand market, so a remake of the set would hopefully offer it at a more reasonable price.
5 – 6274 Caribbean Clipper
Released in 1989, 6274 Caribbean Clipper is one of 12 LEGO Pirates sets made that year. It included four exclusive minifigures and sold for just $54. While it might be unlikely for the LEGO Group to remake two LEGO Pirates sets back-to-back, we can still dream of getting a new and improved Clipper to flesh out the pirate-y bay of 10320 Eldorado Fortress.
4 – 6981 Aerial Intruder
This well-loved set from LEGO Blacktron was originally made from just 267 pieces, leaving plenty of scope for a bigger and hopefully even better version of the ship. LEGO Space features have appeared in a number of themes, from Icons to City, so returning to an iconic LEGO Space set would surely be popular with a wide section of fans.
3 – 6285 Black Seas Barracuda
You could argue that 6285 Black Seas Barracuda has already been revisited as recently as 2020, in the now-retired LEGO Ideas 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay that featured many of the same minifigures and the same style of boat, complete with its red and white stripes. Still, can you ever have too many LEGO pirate boats? A remake could easily off a miniature version of the iconic boat to suit smaller budgets – or bring something entirely new to the table. Your move, LEGO designers!
2 – 21304 Doctor Who
Arguably, you could have virtually infinite remakes of 21304 Doctor Who, each featuring a different Doctor, companion, and timeless enemy. One reader suggested remaking it in time for the show’s 60th anniversary in November, featuring the return of David Tenant – but that might be too short of a timeline for even the speediest of LEGO designers.
1 – 6988 Alpha Centauri Outpost
Another entry for LEGO Blacktron, 6988 Alpha Centauri Outpost was first released all the way back in 1991, with its signature luminous green transparent elements and striking black structures. Currently selling for over ten times its original RRP, there’s still certainly the appeal there, as well as room to improve the set after more than thirty years since its original design.

the only set I wish Lego would remake is Lego 6067 guarded inn unfortunately they just renamed it Legends 10000 and it still the same
I wish they would bring back all the great baseplate they used to have!
If I may throw in my two cents, I would so want to see a remake of set 5988 known as “Pharaoh’s Forbidden Ruins” (maybe elements of the 5978 Sphinx set too).
i miss 7905 Tower Crane.
where are the forestmen? This list is incomplete without a remake of 1 a Forestmen set remake, in my opinion.
