LEGO DREAMZzz features cameo from another LEGO series

Animated series LEGO DREAMZzz features a brief look at another LEGO show for its characters to enjoy.

LEGO DREAMZzz has been available to watch since the middle of May, offering a closer look at many of the sets in the accompanying theme, due to launch in August. Set in a world where children can create anything they imagine in their dreams, the series introduces fantastical sets that offer two ways to build them, encouraging people to let their imagination take the lead.

However, LEGO DREAMZzz is not the first animated series centred around brick-built characters – and certainly not the most prolific. In a recent episode, the DREAMZzz characters reference LEGO NINJAGO and quip about its various seasons. Check out the clip via the embedded tweet below.

Even within the DREAMZzz universe, the characters joke about how many seasons of LEGO NINJAGO there have been saying: “We gotta finish the Oni Trilogy, and then we’re onto the next season,” despite several of the characters quite literally falling asleep in front of the TV.

This raises questions about in-universe canon, with crossover shorts being released previously that now don’t quite fit together. If LEGO NINJAGO exists as its own TV show, then the two universes won’t be able to crossover again, unless the LEGO DREAMZzz characters meet the NINJAGO ‘actors’ and engage with them that way – which would be a very cool meta development.

I’m guessing Tails and Amy will appear in a future Dreamzzz episode, as a tie-in to the upcoming ‘Lego Sonic’ wave of sets due for release this August.

Well, it could also be that the Ninjago universe is a real dimension that the creators experienced through their own dreams and just assume that they made up.
