Every Mario reveal from the June 2023 Nintendo Direct

Another Nintendo Direct has come along, and with it is a look at what’s next for Mario and his friends in the Mushroom Kingdom.

LEGO Super Mario sets are always taking inspiration from whatever’s the latest and greatest in the world of Mario. Any Mario-related game coming up provides the LEGO Group with a whole new batch of options. If you spot anything you think would make a great LEGO Super Mario set in any of these reveal trailers, let us know in the comments!

That said, let’s take a look at each game in the pipeline:

Super Mario RPG (remake)

A remake of the cult classic SNES game from 1996, Super Mario RPG is going to be a huge change of pace for Mario. This throwback title features a few characters we haven’t seen in LEGO form yet, like Geno or Mallow, who would certainly be welcome additions to any LEGO Super Mario set. Super Mario RPG releases November 17.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope – DLC 2: The Last Spark Hunter

The title on this one is a bit of a mouthful. Even more content for the critically-acclaimed Mario + Rabbids crossover series is welcome, although these games don’t usually yield any LEGO sets. If you want to check it out, though, it’s available now!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass Wave 5

Mario Kart has yet to make its debut in LEGO Super Mario, but there’s still time. The three new characters – Petey Piranha, Kamek, and Wiggler – have all been in LEGO Super Mario sets before, so there’s nothing too promising here. The new courses will be available this summer.

WarioWare: Move It!

Wario and his pal Waluigi haven’t made the LEGO Super Mario cut quite yet, but another WarioWare game on November 3 could push their time in the spotlight a little closer. The mischievous duo would be perfect candidates for a Starter Set with two characters.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder

A new 2D Mario game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is probably the game on this list with the highest chance of inspiring LEGO sets. The unique, colourful look of the game and its variety of new characters make it a perfect choice for LEGO tie-ins. There’s a large cast of playable characters this time, including a playable Yoshi and Daisy (also candidates for a Starter Set). Wonder releases on October 20.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (remaster)

This remaster of the second Luigi’s Mansion game, originally released in 2013 on the 3DS, will be arriving in 2024. Luigi’s Mansion is already a Mario spin-off that has been adapted into LEGO form, so it’s possible that this remaster could justify another wave of Luigi-and-ghost-focused sets.

Untitled Princess Peach Game

One of the final reveals was that Princess Peach will be starring as the main playable character in her own game in 2024. This will actually be the third game to focus on the Mushroom Kingdom’s princess, with the last two releasing in 2005 and 1990. Peach is a huge part of LEGO Super Mario, so it’s hard to imagine that this game won’t spawn some sort of LEGO tie-in.

That’s all! Which of these Mario (and friends) games are you most excited for?
