New LEGO goat rumoured for 2023 release
The rumour mill suggests more LEGO Disney sets are on the way this year – and among them is likely to be a brand new LEGO goat.
We’re not quite done with Disney’s 100th-anniversary celebrations just yet, as a trio of sets are reportedly in the works for Wish, a new animated movie due for release in November. For the most part, they sound like pretty standard Disney fare: a castle, a cottage, mini-dolls and so on. But there’s one nugget of information nestled among the wider report that should be music to the ears of LEGO goat lovers.
According to Instagram user 1414falconfan (via lego_minecraft_goat), 43223 Asha and the Kingdom of Rosas will include three characters: a mini-doll of the movie’s protagonist Asha, along with figures of Star and Valentino. Star is a literal embodiment of a star that grants wishes, and can be seen in the movie’s trailer. Valentino, meanwhile, is Asha’s pet goat.
A Valentino figure is therefore a goat figure, which means – if this rumour is true – we’re on course to get our first LEGO goat since the original animal arrived in 2011’s 7189 Mill Village Raid (and which now commands staggering prices on the aftermarket). Subsequent goats have popped up in DUPLO sets, or built from bricks, or on stickers, but this would mark the proper return of the moulded LEGO goat in more than a decade.
The kicker is that it very likely won’t be the same goat you remember, though: instead, it’s probably going to be heavily stylised to represent Valentino, with his big cartoon eyes and floppy ears. But it’s better than nothing – and will hopefully just be a stepping stone to a more traditional LEGO goat in 2024 or beyond. After all, how often can the LEGO Group tease the animal’s return without properly bringing it back?
Remember that rumours around LEGO Disney Wish sets are just that, so don’t be too surprised if they don’t materialise as described (or at all). But if they really are en route, they could land as soon as October 1, so we won’t have to wait too long to find out either way.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

I don’t understand Legos reluctance to bring the goat back. the fact they don’t have the mould is surely such a small matter that it would be pretty easy. they seem to not have a problem making brand new pieces such as Winifreds hair from Hocus Pocus which won’t be in any future sets so why if it’s so popular can the goat not return. makes no sense
