Disney’s latest short is the ultimate character crossover

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Disney, a new short is coming and the first trailer reveals Once Upon a Studio as the ultimate crossover.

Step aside LEGO Dimensions, Disney has unveiled the first trailer for Once Upon a Studio and it looks to be one of the biggest crossovers in history, especially for Disney characters. Featuring a blend of animation styles both 2D and 3D, Once Upon a Studio will see characters from across Disney’s 100-year history gathering for a group photo.

Airing during The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration on October 15 at 8:00 pm EDT on ABC, Once Upon a Studio features 543 characters from more than 85 feature-length and short films. With Disney’s Wish releasing on November 22, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the short air just before the film on the big screen though the thumbnail for the trailer suggests that it is coming to Disney+ eventually too.

Watching the trailer, Once Upon a Studio seems to be the culmination of 2023’s many celebrations with all kinds of characters to spot ranging from newer movies including Encanto to older entries like Home on the Range. The range of films included in the short is similar to the selection of stories represented in 43230 Walt Disney Tribute Camera.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
