Rumoured LEGO Technic 2024 rover needs one feature

There’s a must-have feature for the rumoured LEGO Technic 2024 Apollo rover set and it’s not out of the question thanks to past sets.

Rumour has it that 42182 1970 Apollo Moon Rover is coming in summer 2024 for $249.99, as reported by exabrickslego_go. This would make it by far the largest LEGO rover set ever. However, there’s one feature it needs thanks to a custom creation that may have beaten the LEGO designers to the punch.

Thie reported set may be just a rumour – and should be taken with caution – but the concept of a LEGO Technic Lunar Roving Vehicle is nothing new. Nico71 has already devised a rover with a life-sized joystick using 785 pieces, though this would likely come in at far less than the rumoured $249.99.

A video of the custom creation shows the model’s main feature in action – remote control. The unique design of the Lunar Roving Vehicle lends itself well to this function and there’s more than enough room for the battery, which is realistic compared to the real vehicle to boot.

As impressive as this fan-made design is, there’s no denying that it is likely smaller than the rumoured $249.99 Technic set would be. However, full remote control in Technic sets of this size isn’t unheard of.

42114 6×6 Volvo Articulated Hauler, 42070 6×6 All Terrain Tow Truck and 42030 Volvo L350F Wheel Loader are fully remote-controlled and cost at least $249.99.

However, 42182 1970 Apollo Moon Rover is only a rumour at this time and there’s no telling what it could include at the time of writing. Take all reported information with caution until the LEGO Group officially confirms otherwise.
