Every LEGO Icons set retiring in 2024 and beyond – January update

The LEGO Group has pulled forward the retirement of two LEGO Icons 2023 sets, which will now depart shelves by the end of this year – including the nostalgia-fuelled 10320 Eldorado Fortress.

That’s one of a pair of Icons sets now tagged with a December 31, 2024 retirement date, which means the LEGO Pirates revamp will exit production within the next 12 months. Exactly when that will happen is anyone’s guess – it may not hang around until New Year’s Eve on the dot – so it’s probably a good idea to start making plans to pick it up this year if it’s on your wish list.

Likewise for 10321 Corvette, which only arrived on LEGO Store shelves in August last year, but is now already likely to be racing off them again by the end of 2024. Both models were previously slated to retire in 2026, so this is a pretty major change. And it’s difficult to overlook the obvious conclusion: they are not selling quite as well as the LEGO Group hoped.

We can’t say that definitively, but what other reason is there to prematurely retire products? If they were doing better numbers, it would only make sense to keep them on shelves and available to the public. Instead, 10320 Eldorado Fortress and 10321 Corvette join six other LEGO Icons sets currently scheduled for retirement in 2024, including 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery, 10303 Loop Coaster and 10306 Atari 2600.

The biggest change to the LEGO Icons line-up will happen in 2025 – at least at the time of writing – when 17 different builds will leave the portfolio. There are some real heavy hitters among them too, such as 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle, 10307 Eiffel Tower and 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell. A few others will remain on shelves into 2026 and even 2027, among which are this year’s first LEGO Icons sets.

That could all change in the weeks and months to come, of course, as the LEGO Group shuffles around its production plans for the next few years. Check back with Brick Fanatics regularly for updates, and don’t forget to bookmark our retiring sets page for a full picture of when LEGO sets are due to retire across all themes. Once they’re gone, they won’t come back.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
