Which LEGO Castle faction should return, or debut, in LEGO Ideas?

A LEGO Castle faction will return or debut in the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Prize Machine but picking which choice to vote for may prove challenging.

The LEGO Ideas Minifigure Prize Machine will include a Classic Space minifigure of a new colour as well as a LEGO Castle minifigure voted on by the community. While LEGO Classic Space’s minifigure will be entirely new, it’s not quite the same for LEGO Castle.

LEGO Castle’s side of the fan vote includes two wholly new factions for the iconic theme as well as the potential to offer a new minifigure for two existing factions, but you can only vote for one. The crowd vote is open until June 3 and you can enter by clicking here. Here’s a guide to your options for the future LEGO Castle minifigure, as well as the reasons to pick each of them.

Krakens

The Krakens are one of the two new factions proposed for LEGO Castle as part of the Minifigure Prize Machine and given the nautical nature of the titular creature, this could be the first sea-adjacent faction in LEGO Castle.

While there have been various ships scattered across LEGO Castle’s history, there have been no sea-specific factions at the time of writing, unless you’re counting the LEGO Vikings as part of the theme. Assuming that they’re not though, the Krakens present an interesting opportunity for LEGO Castle’s future.

Whether it be through custom models or official sets, the Krakens’ debut minifigure could inspire water-based fortresses, larger ships and perhaps even a LEGO Kraken creature creation. They might also pair well with the BrickLink Designer Program’s Medieval Seaside Market as part of Series 4.

Crows

The Crows are a classic LEGO Castle faction and have recently returned via 71027 Series 20. Arguably, the Crows don’t need a new minifigure because of this but you could also argue that the Knight minifigure may have been missed by many enthusiasts.

Picking the Crows for the Minifigure Prize Machine could offer many LEGO Castle fans a second chance to pick up a modern minifigure based on the faction, despite the fact that some have yet to return at all.

Griffins

The Griffins are an interesting proposed addition to LEGO Castle as another faction has used a griffin for their iconography previously. While they are almost certainly not the same faction, the Black Knights’ shields and banners used a red and blue griffin on a yellow background, as opposed to the silver and white design on a red background proposed for the LEGO Ideas set.

While the Black Knights have yet to return in the modern era of LEGO Castle, they may never be brought back at all and voting for this new faction in the fan vote offers the chance to pay homage to the classic group, while expanding on the lore of LEGO Castle.

Bulls

The Bulls also have yet to return in the modern era of LEGO Castle and are one of the few factions left to be brought back. Voting for the Bulls in the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Prize Machine means ticking another faction off the list.

The Bulls’ original minifigures have some varying designs too that could make for some appealing and unique LEGO Castle minifigures, potentially bringing back an old helmet element as a bonus, though this is by no means guaranteed.
