Finishing LEGO Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley might be difficult
LEGO Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley is missing just one area to be complete, but finishing the location may be more challenging than expected.
The LEGO Group’s various depictions of Diagon Alley including the massive combination of 75978 Diagon Alley and 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition as well as the smaller and more recent combination of 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and 76439 Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes
Both versions of the high street are missing one area though – Knockturn Alley. While the shadowed section is alluded to in 75978 Diagon Alley, there’s still only two LEGO models to fully depict the location – 4720 Knockturn Alley from 2003 and 10217 Diagon Alley from 2011. The 2011 Diagon Alley model is missing other iconic shops though that were never depicted in the same style.
It’s now rumoured by brick_clicker via Vision Bricks on X that the next LEGO Harry Potter promotional set will depict the location once more in the form of 40695 Borgin and Burkes and it’s easy to imagine it being compatible with either LEGO version of Diagon Alley via a simple Technic pin connection.
For LEGO Harry Potter enthusiasts, it’s an exciting but still unconfirmed rumour that should be taken with caution. It may finally be possible to represent every major space in a brick-built Diagon Alley.
Still, that doesn’t mean the task may be easy as promotional LEGO sets are usually restricted to either a specific set or a high threshold. Thankfully, most LEGO Harry Potter gifts-with-purchase have been widely available via the latter method and the recent range of LEGO Harry Potter summer 2024 sets may make finishing Diagon Alley that much easier, but likely still expensive.
Whether or not the rumoured Borgin and Burkes GWP would be big enough with its reported 190 pieces in comparison to either Diagon Alley recreation is another question, but it could be a start at least.
Rumour has it that the Borgin and Burkes GWP may be available on all LEGO Harry Potter sets from September 1. Take all unconfirmed rumours with caution until an announcement is made though. Should the rumours be true, you may want to factor an extra order into your budget for later this year though at what threshold is not yet known.

Nope you haven’t missed it, that would be another area but I’ve always thought of it as just outside Diagon Alley, serving as the entrance – would make for a great set though!
Borgin and Burkes was also in the 2011 Diagon Alley set… I still love that set so many years later, it looks great on display!
I’m still annoyed at myself for missing out on that one!
