Take a closer look at LEGO BrickLink 910038 Ominous Isle

The LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 2 is starting soon and we’re diving deeper into 910038 Ominous Isle, as requested.

Since sharing our first video for 910038 Ominous Isle from the second series of the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program, we’ve had requests for a closer look at the fan-designed creation before crowdfunding starts on June 6.

As well as our written review of the new LEGO Pirates set, here’s a more in-depth guide to the latest swashbuckling creation that you can pre-order for £189.99 / $239.99 / €219.99 starting later this week, but it’s limited to 30,000 copies.

The set is designed by jazlecraz and pays tribute to LEGO Pirates with an expansive archipelago-like display that can be connected using all manner of brick-built bridges that vary in length and flexibility. These bridges are connected to the island modules using a modified plate with a stud in the centre.

Since there are no new prints and pieces allowed in LEGO BrickLink Designer Program sets, the fan designer has had to get creative in their reuse of existing elements and pieces which makes for a more interesting experience overall.

Pre-orders for 910038 Ominous Isle start on June 6 and the model is limited to a maximum of 30,000 copies. It’s common for builds to sell out within the first few days and we’d advise deciding whether or not you want to pick up the new LEGO Pirates set sooner rather than later.

In other LEGO BrickLink Designer Program news, voting for the fifth series has just started with 306 projects to be condensed to just five.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
