LEGO Ideas 21353 Botanical Garden rumoured for 2024
The LEGO Ideas team apparently has one more set up its sleeve for 2024, with Valentina Bima’s Botanical Garden now rumoured to land later this year.
Given the green light as part of the first LEGO Ideas 2023 review, the Botanical Garden is the first LEGO Ideas set that’s likely to be directly compatible with the LEGO Group’s Modular Buildings Collection. Valentina designed the 3,000-piece concept model with the same pavement and lampposts as the likes of 10297 Boutique Hotel and 10326 Natural History Museum.
Instagram user Brick Clicker now reports that the model will materialise on November 1, 2024 as 21353 Botanical Garden, with 3,792 pieces for $329.99 in the US. That makes it the biggest LEGO Ideas set of the year, narrowly squeezing past 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale at 3,745 pieces. That set retails for $359.99 in the US, but also has a licence attached to it.
Valentina’s initial submission sits across a 48×32-stud footprint, matching the scope of 10326 Natural History Museum. If this rumour is true, the LEGO Group has added more than a quarter of the original piece count to the build, so it’ll be interesting to see where that extra budget has gone. One possibility is that the final model simply requires more parts for a smoother building experience and better stability.
Another more interesting option is that the LEGO Ideas team has extended the scope of the Botanical Garden – whether horizontally or vertically – or fleshed out the interior with even more complex and impressive plant life. Time will tell, but if this rumour pans out as expected, we might only have a few months to wait to find out for sure. Treat it as unconfirmed for now in any case.

Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
