Pharrell Williams’ LEGO biopic Piece by Piece to premiere at BFI London Film Festival

Pharrell Williams’ LEGO biopic Piece by Piece will have its UK premiere screening at the BFI London Film Festival later this year.

The animated feature about singer-songwriter and rapper Pharrell Williams is set to premiere at the BFI London Film Festival (LFF) on October 20, closing out an eleven-day programme full of cinematic presentations. This comes after the international premiere, scheduled for September at the Toronto Film Festival. A world premiere has not been announced but is thought to be planned for either Telluride or Venice film festivals perhaps, as reported by Screen Daily.

Those across the UK can watch any one of nine simultaneous screenings on October 20, taking place at: Broadway Cinema in Nottingham, Chapter in Cardiff, Glasgow Film Theatre, HOME in Manchester, MAC in Birmingham, Queen’s Film Theatre in Belfast, Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle and Watershed in Bristol. This comes ahead of the film’s official release on November 8, when the film will be available to watch in UK cinemas.

Directed by Morgan Neville, Piece by Piece follows Pharrell’s life and career from childhood to stardom, with everything rendered in LEGO. That includes an all-star cast, featuring Pharrell himself, of course, alongside Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Gwen Stefani, Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg

“The BFI London Film Festival has been supportive of my career for a long time, with my first time screening there being over twenty years ago,” said Morgan Neville.

According to rumours reported by Instagram user exabrickslegogo_, there will be at least one LEGO set based on Piece by Piece, although there’s no details on what it could be just yet.
