Star Wars: Skeleton Crew display reinforces importance of retiring LEGO Star Wars set

A new display for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew at D23 should make clear the importance of a retiring LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian set.

Drew Smith is at D23 and has shared on X (formerly Twitter) an image of a display for Skeleton Crew, likely teasing a reveal for the series later today. This display features four new characters for the series but one should be familiar to those who have watched The Mandalorian.

Front and centre of the display is none other than Vane from The Mandalorian Season 3, confirmed to return in this series as what appears to be a major antagonist previously. His presence here signifies his importance in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

None of his crew depicted alongside him have physical minifigures in the series’ only set – 75374 The Onyx Cinder – but Vane has a minifigure with nearly the same outfit in 75346 Pirate Snub Fighter. You can tell it’s the same character by the accessory around his neck.

While 75374 The Onyx Cinder has just been released, 75346 Pirate Snub Fighter is scheduled to retire at the end of 2024. Those who want every Skeleton Crew minifigure will need to pick up the retiring The Mandalorian model before the end of the year.

This might be the antagonistic minifigure based on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew too as the series releases on December 1 and what appears to be most of the protagonists are included as minifigures in 75374 The Onyx Cinder. You can pick up 75374 The Onyx Cinder now for £124.99 / $139.99 / €139.99.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
