We need one kind of set from the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5

As the announcement of BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets nears, we need one kind of LEGO set to be in the selection for the last time.

The fifth series of the BrickLink Designer Program is more momentous than expected thanks to a huge change coming to the rules starting with Series 6. From the next series and likely all future series, modular buildings are prohibited along with other new guidelines.

Buildings are still allowed but if they are distinctly modular, as many submitted models and approved sets have been, they will not be accepted into the series. It’s a massive change for the program that could affect LEGO Ideas in the future too.

For now, we can only hope that at least one modular set surfaces as part of Series 5. The results are coming tomorrow, and it will likely be our last chance to receive a BrickLink modular building. So far official BrickLink modular buildings have included a LEGO store, Venetian houses, a bowling alley, a construction site and more.

There are dozens of amazing modular creations in Series 5, and we highlighted a few of our favourites previously. Here’s hoping at least one of the five selected sets is a modular building to ring in Series 6 and the changes to the guidelines. Click here to see some other standout builds in contention for sets as part of the fifth series.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
