Just a happy little LEGO Ideas design, making it to 10K
LEGO Ideas welcomes the calming influence of Bob Ross to the list of potential fan-designed builds that could become a real LEGO set.
Designed by first-time 10K club member and former challenge Grand Prize winner BrickAbe, Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting takes its lead from previous LEGO Ideas set, 21333 Vincent van Gogh – The Starry Night, featuring a work of art and a minifigure of the artist: Bob Ross. Known for his calming and encouraging televised art lessons, the late Bob Ross was a staple of the ’80s and early ’90s, offering a welcoming space for people to paint along with him.
He was best known for his nature landscapes, similar to what’s depicted in the would-be set. A gradient sunset sky, snow-capped mountains, and a lush forest come together, complete with a cabin and lake in the foreground. The bricks are layered together to create a landscape that stands in relief from the brick-built ‘canvas’ and there are hooks on the back to allow it to hang on the wall.
Bob himself can be found in a tiny TV next to the painting, or perched on a log bench within it.
Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting becomes the 31st LEGO Ideas project in the second 2024 review. Remind yourself of what else has made it so far in the table below.
