LEGO DOTS returns with free in-store make and take event

The retired LEGO DOTS theme will be making a brief reappearance next month thanks to an upcoming in-store make and take event.

The LEGO DOTS theme waved a fond farewell last year, with 2023’s final three set releases being 41808 Hogwarts Accessories Pack, 41809 Hedwig Pencil Holder and 41811 Hogwarts Desktop Kit. While the tile-based building technique may live on in the likes of 43248 Inside Out 2 Mood Cubes, there’s no sign of the theme returning in full at any point in the future.

However, the good news for those in the US and Canada is that LEGO Stores will be hosting a special make and take event next month, with the chance to get your hands on a unique LEGO DOTS Creative Animals build.

The in-store event is scheduled for September 15 from 12-2pm, although you’ll need to check in advance with your local LEGO Store to find out if they’ll be participating. Those in attendance appear to be being offered one of four different LEGO DOTS models including a hippo, rabbit, dog and cat.

As per usual with the theme, a selection of 1×1 tiles have been used to create each of the LEGO DOTS Creative Animals, complete with printed eye elements. A limited quantity of the builds will be available to visitors on the day, limited to one model per person. It would therefore seem that the only way to pick up all four promotional builds would be to attend with enough family members or friends.

There’s currently no sign of the LEGO DOTS Creative Animals event being offered in other territories yet, but we’ll keep you posted if that changes at some point.
