LEGO announces new partnership with Formula 1 for 2025 and beyond

2025 will be the year of LEGO Formula 1, thanks to a multi-year partnership between the LEGO Group and Formula 1 launching next year.

The LEGO Group has today announced a multi-year collaboration with Formula 1, bringing the worlds of motorsports and LEGO together in a collection likely similar to the LEGO space one of this year. The sets promise to span multiple themes and cover all ten teams currently in Formula 1.

The only theme specifically mentioned is LEGO DUPLO for sets geared towards younger builders with the inclusion of LEGO DUPLO but the collection will presumably include at least LEGO Icons, Speed Champions, and Technic, especially as there are already Formula 1 sets in those themes.

LEGO space also spanned LEGO Collectible Minifigures, City, Art, Friends, Creator, and DREAMZzz, so there are plenty more opportunities for Formula 1 to grow beyond simply cars, drivers, and tracks. Indeed, there are already rumours of a LEGO Formula 1 Collectible Minifigures circulating, although not confirmed just yet.

The LEGO Group will also be involved in fan zone activities throughout the Formula 1 season. 2025 will be the 75th anniversary of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and the LEGO Group will have a presence at key races across the year. There’s also a promise of digital content to go alongside the in-person experience and physical sets.

“At the LEGO Group, we have a proud history of having recreated many F1 cars in LEGO brick form in the past, and we believe this new partnership, through LEGO play and building, will help bring the spectacle of this sport even closer to all fans,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group. “It will enable them to celebrate their passion of the sport in more immersive and exciting ways and will see the power of LEGO creativity and imagination further enhance the thrill of F1.”

“The LEGO brick has ignited a spark of creativity and passion for building in millions of children and adults around the globe,” said Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer of Formula 1. “Through this partnership, fans will be able to recreate and reimagine the world of Formula 1, brick by brick, delving deeper into the intricacies of the mechanics and technology behind the sport through play.”

While no precise date for the start of the partnership has been made public, the LEGO x Formula 1 collection will roll out of the pits in time for the 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, which kicks off on March 16, 2025. That means we can likely expect the first reveals and releases early next year. In the meantime, we’ve already speculated on what a LEGO Formula 1 collection could look like here.
