Last chance to pick up these five retired LEGO sets

When LEGO sets retire, it’s often the last time you see them – but these five builds are available for one last hurrah thanks to a third-party retailer.

As the LEGO Group brings out new LEGO sets each year, that sadly means we have to say goodbye to older ones – no matter how beloved they are. If you’ve missed out on now-retired LEGO sets, you can usually find them on the secondhand market but potentially at an eye-watering mark-up, especially if its an especially iconic set.

Thankfully, UK retailer Sports Direct has a number of retired LEGO sets still in stock – and for close to their original RRPs. The prices are on par with buying secondhand and these will all be in as-new condition, coming directly from a retailer. Read on for five retired LEGO sets that you can snap up, potentially for the very last time, by shopping at Sports Direct.

LEGO DC 76161 1989 Batwing

First up, and fitting for the week of Batman Day, this is your chance to snap up 76161 1989 Batwing. Originally sold for £174.99, Sports Direct has it available for £219.99, featuring the iconic Batwing on its own display stand, along with three minifigures: Batman, the Joker, and Lawrence the Boombox Goon.

As shown in the picture above, 76161 1989 Batwing can also be hung on the wall for an extra dynamic display that shows off the unique bat-like silhouette to its best advantage. We rarely see this LEGO Batman set at retailers, so be sure to snap it up while it’s available at Sports Direct.

LEGO Icons 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van

Retired since the end of 2022, 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van is available at Sports Direct for £194.99. While that’s higher than its original RRP of £139.99, the retro brick-built camper is too cut to miss out on. The azure colour scheme really pops in contrast to the orange fabric of the sleeping compartment and makes for an eye-catching display for any classic car fan.

LEGO Icons 10291 Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft

10291 Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft is actually available for slightly less than its RRP at £88.99, after retiring at the end of 2022. The brick-built rendition of the Fab Five Loft also includes all five of the then-members of the Fab Five (with Bobby having now left the show), alongside their trusty canine mascot Bruley. There are references to the Five’s skills and makeover talents littered throughout the set, as well as a chic modern apartment build, making it worth a closer look at the LEGO Icons set even if you’re not a Queer Eye fan.

LEGO Icons 10293 Santa’s Visit

Many people are keen to build up an entire LEGO Winter Village collection, so if you’ve missed out on 10293 Santa’s Visit, now is your chance. Also available at just under its RRP at £87.99, the blue colour scheme adds a nice pop of colour to any festive display, as well as including the jolly red man himself. It works well as either a standalone Christmassy build or to add some magic to your line-up of Winter Village sets.

LEGO Technic 42083 Bugatti Chiron

Last but certainly not least, 42083 Bugatti Chiron raced off shelves in 2022 but is back for a last hurrah at Sports Direct, priced at £329.99, just £10 more than its usual RRP. Built at a 1:8 scale, the LEGO Technic set recreates every detail of the stunning Bugatti Chiron down to the last detail, including the aerodynamic body with active rear wing, low-profile tires on spoked rims with logo, detailed brake discs, and a W16 engine with movable pistons.
