LEGO Formula 1 page may be counting down to something big

A mysterious countdown clock currently ticking away on the official LEGO Formula 1 page may be hinting at a big reveal in the months to come.

The LEGO Group and Formula 1 announced a multi-year partnership today, with 2025 set to be a potential championship start for the two global brands. At this stage, all we really know is that models spanning multiple themes and covering all 10 Formula 1 teams are on the way, with recent rumours suggesting a LEGO CMF may even be part of that line-up.

So far only LEGO DUPLO builds have been officially announced, but additional details regarding the partnership state that we can expect a ‘diverse product portfolio for fans and builders of all ages.’

However, racing fans may not have to wait until 2025 to get a sense of the roadmap for the LEGO Formula 1 line-up. In conjunction with today’s announcement, an official landing page for the partnership has also gone live, complete with a cryptic countdown clock.

Based on the 63 days plus a handful of hours left to go (at the time of this writing), we’re looking at the clock reaching zero on or around November 20. That might be when initial information on some of next year’s LEGO Formula 1 sets is revealed or it could be the date that we’ll learn more about exactly how the LEGO Group will be participating in the 75th anniversary of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

In terms of the official Formula 1 calendar, November 20 is the day before the start of the Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024, but it’s more likely that’s just when we could get our first glimpse of sets emerging from today’s partnership announcement.

In addition, the LEGO Formula 1 landing page also features silhouettes of five mysterious minifigures, complete with what appear to be new helmet moulds. The look of the shadowy characters harks back to a similar technique used on the official site earlier this year to drip feed information on the seven LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary special edition minifigures that have been released in 2024.

The cryptic image could also represent a big hint regarding the rumoured LEGO CMF line-up reported to be arriving at some point next year, but we’ll hopefully find out for sure if it’s nothing more than just a placeholder sometime around November 20.
