LEGO Ideas Studio Ghibli project calls back to Star Wars set

Plenty of LEGO Ideas projects get second chances, now including a returning project inspired by the Studio Ghibli film Howl’s Moving Castle.

Ericlego321 is back in a review round after they first pitched the Studio Ghibli set in the first 2023 review. Unfortunately, that iteration of the build was not approved for a set. With any luck, ericlego321 will find success the second time around.

This newer project appears to be identical to the original submission, depicting a 2,000-piece, 1:100 scale model of the walking castle as it appears in the 2004 animated film. The primary function of the build is similar to that of 10178 Motorized Walking AT-AT and has been demonstrated in a video.

It would be one of the liveliest LEGO Ideas sets but with the number of pieces and the motorisation, it would also be an expensive build. 21335 Motorised Lighthouse has just over 2,000 pieces and a motorised function too for £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99.

The microscale creation has plenty of details aside from this function and the user proposes that five minifigures be included – Howl, Sophie, Markl, Calcifer, and the Scarecrow.

It’s not been approved for a LEGO Ideas set just yet though and now joins eight other projects in the third 2024 review.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
