LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has a mumble mode

The gameplay overview trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has lifted the curtain on the previously teased mumble mode.

In an interview with IGN at E3 2019, Arthur Parsons stated that while LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga would feature full voice acting, the grunts and mumbles from past LEGO games might not be out of the question.

“At the minute the plan is that the game is fully voiced,” commented the former Head of Design Arthur Parsons who has recently left TT Games. “But we are talking to the team about having an additional mode for grunts.”

The recently-released gameplay overview trailer for the title has a surprise for those who watch until the very end as LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has an extra option to replace voices with traditional mumbles.

Mumble mode, which is shown off in a scene featuring Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in a classic moment, turns any voice in the full game into the familiar grunt and mumbles that older LEGO titles featured.

How you access this feature has not yet been made clear, though it may be one of the many Kyber Bricks that can be found throughout the game. This has not been confirmed, but we will know how to turn on the classic grunts and mumbles when LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga launches on April 5 later this year.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
