A new kind of LEGO figure could be on the way after LEGO Wicked

A single element in the LEGO Wicked sets indicates that an all-new kind of LEGO figure is coming, ideal for one character in particular.

Of the four new LEGO Wicked sets, 75682 Elphaba & Glinda Figures may be the most interesting of the lot for including a new clawed-hand element that is compatible with standard minifigure accessories but is notably larger than a normal minifigure hand.

There are plenty of shots of this new element and we can tell that the clawed hand is at an angle compared to that of standard minifigures and that it fits into a bar slot. It’s debuting in light nougat and bright green, but we’d be surprised if it stayed available in only these colours.

While the new hand element works well for the unique figures in 75682 Elphaba & Glinda Figures and would similarly work for other characters in this style, the piece also lends itself to many other figure designs.

Larger characters that need to be bigger than a minifigure, but not quite with the proportions of a bigfig could benefit from the bigger claw hand such as Ant-Man in his giant form.

Previously, the character has been depicted as an upscaled minifigure in 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle. This piece allows the LEGO Group to revisit Giant-Man at this scale while letting him hold accessories, which the Technic element used previously did not.

That’s just one example of how this new piece could be used in the future and the potential is endless. For now, it’s going to debut in 75682 Elphaba & Glinda Figures on October 1, 2024, and the duo are available to pre-order now alongside the rest of the Wicked models.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
