How do both LEGO Lamborghini Countach sets stack up against each other?
So just how well does LEGO Icons 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole compare against its smaller LEGO Speed Champions cousin?
The LEGO Group waved the starting flag on 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole today, with the upcoming 1,506-piece set to be priced at £159.99 / $179.99 / €179.99. The LEGO Icons model launches exclusively for Insiders on July 1, 2024, and then receives a wider release for all from July 4.
10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole features plenty of authentic details, from the ‘Italian wedge’ shape look of the white sports car and its classic ’70’s stylings to the vehicle’s iconic scissor doors and red luxury cockpit.
However, while the LEGO Icons set may be an impressive take on the racing legend, it’s not the first such brick-built version of the supercar that we’ve seen. The LEGO Speed Champions theme welcomed 76908 Lamborghini Countach to its line-up in 2022, with the 262-piece model currently still available to purchase for £19.99 / $19.99 / €24.99.
Comparing the two LEGO Lamborghini Countach sets reveals many similarities between the pair of models and a number of more obvious differences. 76908 Lamborghini Countach manages to capture the eye-catching stylings of the real car too, although some elements such as the vehicle’s rear spoiler and bonnet appear slightly chunkier than on its upcoming larger sibling.
Similarly, the limited number of pieces included with 76908 Lamborghini Countach means that the finished car lacks many of the finer details that adult LEGO collectors looking for 100% accuracy will be after. We’re also expecting less (or indeed no) stickers in the LEGO Icons set, although we won’t know until the model has been released exactly how many printed pieces it will come with.
That attention to detail may well prove to be one of 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole’s key selling points, with many more true-to-life features included in the upscaled LEGO Icons set.
As well as working steering, an opening trunk and rear hood and a brick-built V12 engine, the model also comes with deep-dish rims, large taillights and a Countach number plate. While some of those have been replicated in 76908 Lamborghini Countach, the LEGO Speed Champions model just can’t compete with that level of accuracy.
More likely than not, racing fans may well be tempted to buy both sets to add to their collections, with 10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole and 76908 Lamborghini Countach almost acting as worthy companion pieces to honour the iconic vehicle.
10337 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole will be available to all Insiders members from July 1, while everyone else can grab the set from July 4. The LEGO Icons model will retail for £159.99 / $179.99 / €179.99 and be available from LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores.
