Comparing LEGO Ideas 21352 Magic of Disney to the original design
The upcoming LEGO Ideas 21352 Magic of Disney has been officially revealed, with some key changes from its original fan-made design.
21352 Magic of Disney has been revealed early by a LEGO Certified Store, giving us our first look at the upcoming LEGO Ideas set. The model was originally designed by LEGO Ideas user 2A2A as part of last year’s Disney 100th anniversary contest and, while the set is certainly recognisable as the initial one, some key changes have been made.
The differences include some minor details with the main build but largely centre around the characters chosen for this minifigure-focused build. Let’s dig into what they are and how they affect the end product.
The same core concept remains…
The core concept of 21352 Magic of Disney remains the same: a buildable Sorcerer Mickey surrounded by vignettes from across the studio’s history. The wizard’s hat decorated with stars and a moon remains, along with his red magical robes but now without ‘100,’ an understandable change seeing as Disney’s 100th birthday is now over.
The space in front of Mickey is still made up of three sections but those sections now feature some new details and characters from across Disney’s history. The only original ones to stay are Belle and the magic rose from Beauty and the Beast, Pride Rock from The Lion King, and influences from Pinocchio and The Little Mermaid.
…but with more added to it
To flesh out the design still more, the LEGO Group has chosen to include Bruno and the Casa Madrigal from Encanto, Lilo, the Fantasia brooms, and Geppetto instead of Pinocchio. This has left Aladdin, Cinderella’s pumpkin coach, and Stitch riding the wave out of the system but it does offer a wider variety of movies that could well appeal to a wider demographic. We’ve summarised the major changes briefly in the table below.

Aesthetically, the final design of 21352 Magic of Disney is also more colourful, thanks to the vibrant green base plate and vivid colours from Encanto on the left and the tan base plate for Pride Rock on the left. Geppetto and the Fantasia brooms still keep the height that was present in the original design but there’s less blue and more colour diversity, making for an overall appealing final effect.
(Almost) all new cast of minifigures
Those changes have also, whether intentionally or not, provided us with brand-new minifigure designs for a host of characters. Where Pinocchio, Aladdin, and Cinderella had been seen before in the LEGO system, Geppetto, Bruno, Lilo, Belle, and Simba had not.
If losing some of the characters from the original design brings these characters into minifigure form for the first time (including ones like Geppetto that we’re perhaps unlikely to ever see again), then it seems like a worthwhile and savvy decision from the LEGO Ideas design team.
21352 Magic of Disney is expected to retail for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 from October 1, although international prices are yet to be confirmed.

You missed one major change. Mickey is now way smaller and looks terrible in comparison to the design.
There is a typo, it’s Lilo, not Moana. Just wanted to point that out.
