This custom LEGO Qimir from Star Wars: The Acolyte brings guns to a lightsaber fight

The LEGO Group has skipped over Star Wars: The Acolyte so far, but one fan has come up with a next-level custom version of Qimir – and it only uses official LEGO pieces.

Disney’s latest streaming series from a galaxy far, far away wrapped up its first season this week, but anyone hoping to celebrate with LEGO Star Wars: The Acolyte sets will be sorely disappointed… for now. While we wait to see if the LEGO Group embraces the High Republic in 2025, one fan has turned to their existing collection to come up with a custom Qimir that really looks the part – right down to his helmet.

Instagram user Bricks By Gus cooked up this Qimir minifigure last week ahead of the show’s finale, bringing to life the character played by Manny Jacinto. Known in The Acolyte only as his alias, but dubbed by Lucasfilm as ‘The Stranger’, Qimir is the show’s ripped Sith Lord who brings his guns to a lightsaber fight (but also two lightsabers).

This custom minifigure pulls together official parts from a variety of different sources to recreate Qimir, both with his distinctive ‘Smilo Ren’ helmet and without it. His cortosis-constructed helmet uses an Ultron helmet turned backwards atop the head from Unkar’s Thug in 75099 Rey’s Speeder, while his helmetless head is borrowed from 76216 Iron Man Armoury’s Whiplash.

The single dual-moulded left arm, bare right arm and dual lightsabers top off a very cool take on one of The Acolyte’s best characters, although the show’s final episode confirmed that Qimir’s second laser sword is a shoto blade, so should technically be a little bit shorter than his main lightsaber. If you want to recreate this minifigure physically, that’ll mean sourcing a trans-red 3L bar (which are thankfully plentiful on BrickLink).

The baton is now passed on to the LEGO Star Wars team to come up with a Qimir minifigure that looks half as good as this. An official, unique helmet mould will obviously help, but it’s tough to imagine we’d get a dual-moulded arm on such a minifigure. Bare arms would probably be fine though – as The Acolyte proved, Manny Jacinto didn’t get those guns not to show them off.

While the jury is still out on whether we will end up getting LEGO Star Wars: The Acolyte sets, the show is ripe with possibilities – here are just five…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
