Every LEGO Ideas set in production – August 2024

There are quite a few LEGO Ideas sets currently in production following the results of the third 2023 review, from Disney to a slice of Italy.

Update Aug 14: This list has been updated to add the two newly-announced ’80s contest winners and remove 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas, which launches September 3 for LEGO Insiders.

LEGO Ideas has had a busy month with the recent launch of 21350 Jaws and the rumour mill suggests that the theme won’t be slowing down over the rest of 2024. Looking further beyond that though, the theme’s team has lots of work ahead of them.

Here’s every LEGO Ideas still in production as of August 2024 and quite a few are rumoured to release before the end of the year.

Reading, Reading, Reading

FR_AN’s Reading, Reading, Reading will become a gift-with-purchase thanks to a LEGO Ideas challenge. It’s rumoured to be released in October as set number 40698. That’s only a rumour though and there’s no word on the threshold required to obtain the build inspired by the serene submission.

Disney Magic

LEGO Ideas challenges have become a fruitful source of future sets, as proved 2A2A’s Disney Magic which celebrates the 100th anniversary of Disney after the main event in 2023. It’s reported to be coming to shelves on October 1 but official details and the final design have yet to be revealed. Here’s hoping it keeps the minifigures.

Twilight: Cullen House

Nick Micheels’ Twilight: Cullen House pays tribute to the movie franchise with a modern abode and four minifigures based on the movie, or at least that’s what was pitched. The final design of this build has yet to be revealed and it was approved in December 2023 as we near one year since the announcement.

The Botanical Garden

Approved at the same time as the Twilight project, Valentina Bima’s The Botanical Garden could rival 41757 Botanical Garden and is the only modular submission to ever be approved for a set on LEGO Ideas. Rumour has it that we could see it on shelves in November.

Knowledge is Power

Born from a STEM-themed LEGO Ideas challenge, Danielbradleyy’s Knowledge is Power is also going to be an official LEGO Ideas set that is an homage to many different scientific fields in a compact and busy design.

Micro Rail Command Center

Falkorich‘s Micro Rail Command Center should make Classic Space fans excited as the LEGO monorail is officially coming back, likely using the new rollercoaster track as pitched. It too won a contest as one of two space-based winners.

Moon Car

EnchantingNoodle‘s Moon Car takes the idea of the space race literally and will be a future LEGO Insiders reward alongside Falkorich‘s Micro Rail Command Center.

Minifigure Prize Machine

Rob Vangansewinkel’s Minifigure Prize Machine is one of the most interesting LEGO Ideas sets to be approved as it has had a couple of fan votes that will determine a Castle and Classic Space minifigure featured in the set. This could be an especially exciting LEGO Ideas model for minifigure collectors.

Western River Steamboat

Aaron Hall’s Western River Steamboat was approved for a set in May this year and proposes a vehicle not often seen in the LEGO portfolio and never at this level of detail. The steamboat set has no rumours or official details surrounding it at the time of writing and for now, we can only admire the pitched project.

The Autumn Snails

As the winner of the LEGO Ideas dream gift-with-purchase contest, Jagamax’s The Autumn Snails is going to be a future LEGO gift and proposes a duo of snails in a detailed woodland scene complete with all sorts of flora.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The results of the third LEGO Ideas 2023 review revealed two more upcoming sets (and one project still being considered) including Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, pitched for the second time on the platform. The classic story is officially getting a LEGO set but it’s too early to receive any official details on the set at the time of writing.

The Italian Riviera

Alex Sahli’s Italian Riviera was also approved yesterday and this could well be one of the most exciting upcoming LEGO sets, proposing a slice of Italy complete with a gelato shop, a beach and several minifigures. Suffice to say that this is one of the most beautiful submissions approved for a set so far and hopefully the final design won’t skip out on the important details.

The Goonies (1985)

The beloved Goonies franchise was used as inspiration for one of the two winners from the ’80s IP LEGO Ideas competition. The Goonies (1985) features a variety of the beloved characters, including Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Mouth, Andy, Stef, Data, Sloth, Jake, Francis, and Mama Fratelli as minifigures, as well as the main build of the set, which traverses through many of the adventures experienced by the gang, from the mysterious caves of One-Eyed Willy to the enigmatic lost pirate ship.

Gizmo

From the same ’80s-inspired LEGO Ideas competition comes a homage to Gremlins, namely in the form of a buildable Gizmo. Made up of 400 elements, the designer, terauma, also states that at least in the first submission, the option for Gremlins 2’s Rambo style is available as a bonus build. Even the form depicted above looks pretty close to the original, with tufty brown and white fur all over.
