What to expect from LEGO at San Diego Comic-Con 2024

It’s almost time for San Diego Comic-Con 2024 and ahead of next week’s event, here’s everything you can expect from the LEGO Group.

San Diego Comic-Con is nearly here, starting on July 25 and lasting until July 28. It looks to be another exciting event for pop-culture enthusiasts, including those only interested in LEGO sets and projects.

From panels to representation at booths across the show floor, this is a comprehensive guide to everything from the LEGO Group confirmed for San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising

One of the main events for LEGO enthusiasts at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 will be a dedicated LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising panel discussing the future of the theme’s series as well as its upcoming 15th anniversary in 2026.

Expect reveals, insight from the team behind the show and hints at what is to come in NINJAGO’s future, both near and far. The panel takes place on July 25 at 1:00pm PDT.

LEGO Marvel

While Marvel has another massive presentation planned in Hall H, LEGO Marvel’s presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 isn’t quite as huge, but it’s still there.

The Marvel team have teased that the Marvel booth will feature movie scenes recreated by LEGO artists. There’s no word on what these scenes might be, but it sounds like the usual showcase of big builds for LEGO Marvel at Comic-Con this year.

LEGO Dungeons & Dragons

It has been confirmed that the the Hasbro booth will feature products from a few of Dungeons & Dragons’ partners including the LEGO Group. It seems likely that this will include 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale at least.

Given the upcoming release of a Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures series in September though, the event may be a good opportunity to show off whatever characters are planned for the series. This remains unconfirmed, but there will be some kind of presence for LEGO Dungeons & Dragons at the Hasbro booth.

LEGO MASTERS USA

The second LEGO-specific panel at San Diego Comic-Con is for LEGO MASTERS USA. Brickmaster and LEGO designer Jamie Berard will be leading the LEGO MASTERS panel at SDCC 2024, which takes place in Room 6BCF from 4:30pm to 5:30pm PDT on July 26.

Other guests for the panel include former LEGO MASTERS USA winners, executive producers Brent Benedetti, Pip Wells and Robert May, and Endemol Shine’s Senior VP of unscripted content Michael Heyerman. Expect a discussion of Season 4, updates on Season 5 and it seems likely that the new 41838 Travel Moments will at least be mentioned given its connection to the show.

No exclusive sets or minifigures

One thing you shouldn’t expect from San Diego Comic-Con 2024 is any major exclusives including sets and minifigures. The LEGO Group seems to be continuing its strategy of moving away from event-exclusive models and minifigures in 2024 as they aren’t listed on the exclusives portal available for attendees to book their place.

With that in mind though, there may be some exclusive items as 2023 saw a unique minifigure torso and a set of pins being given away at the LEGO Group’s booth. It’s not quite as major as a set or exclusive character, but it could be worth checking out for a keepsake all the same.

A LEGO booth

Just as in 2023, the LEGO Group is confirmed to have a booth of some kind on the show floor. Last year, LEGO Brickbuster Video was the booth, based on classic movie rental stores with promotions and showcases for series, sets and more projects from the LEGO Group.

It proved to be a surprisingly in-depth and detailed booth and we look forward to seeing what the plans are for San Diego Comic-Con 2024. LEGO enthusiasts in attendance will almost certainly want to stop by during the event.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
