Find every LEGO Dungeons & Dragons minifigure you want with Brick Search

You’ll be able to find every LEGO Dungeons & Dragons minifigure you want in September using Brick Search’s minifigure scanner.

The LEGO Group’s switch to cardboard boxes from plastic foil bags for its Collectible Minifigures in 2023 was good news for the environment, and – after a false start with 71039 Marvel Series 2 – has now turned out to be great news for collectors, too. That’s thanks to the data matrix codes on the bottom of boxes, which you can scan with the Brick Search app to instantly identify the character hiding inside.

That means no more standing in store aisles awkwardly fondling foil bags, and a much more straightforward shopping process for anyone interested in the latest series of Collectible Minifigures – including the upcoming 71047 Dungeons & Dragons, the codes for which the Brick Search team is currently busy uploading to the app ready for September 1.

We’ve already got our hands on the 12 different characters (and have reviewed them here), and it’s the codes from those boxes that the Brick Search crew is currently adding to the app. But they’ll also be on the lookout for any alternative codes across different regions in the run-up to, on and beyond release day, so please get in touch with Andrew on [email protected] if you find any boxes in the wild and want to help out your fellow fans.

The data matrix codes first appeared on 71045 Series 25 boxes in January, with a mix of smaller unreadable and larger readable codes depending on production runs and location. 71046 Series 26 Space then made the move exclusively to larger data matrix codes, and Brick Search proved instrumental in collectors all over the world seeking out a full set, their favourites or just a busload of Alien Tourist minifigures.

We’ll see the same experience in September when 71047 Dungeons & Dragons and its cast of 12 colourful characters debuts in LEGO Stores and at retailers worldwide. If you haven’t already, make sure to download Brick Search on iOS or Android so you’re ready for the first time you see Tasha the Witch Queen, the Dragonborn Paladin and the rest on shelves.

For now, check out our in-depth review of all 12 new fantasy-themed minifigures to determine which ones you want to prioritise on September 1. I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
