First look at LEGO Harry Potter 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition

The LEGO Group has published a first grainy image of LEGO Harry Potter 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition, which appears to be this year’s flagship Wizarding World set.

The tiny picture has surfaced as part of a declaration of conformity document on the LEGO Group’s legal services portal, giving us a first glimpse at what to expect from the heavily-anticipated return to Gringotts. This is the first time the LEGO Group has tackled the wizarding bank since the Harry Potter theme returned in 2018, and comes three years after 75978 Diagon Alley hit shelves.

From this small image, it’s impossible to tell whether 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition will be able to connect to and display well with the buildings in 75978 Diagon Alley – that will likely depend on whether the bank itself is separable – but even on its own, this looks like an incredible display piece. The model spans two levels, both above and below ground, building out the brilliant white bank and its subterranean vaults.

That’s almost certainly the Ukrainian Ironbelly Dragon sitting on top, too, suggesting 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition will take heavy inspiration from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. Just like 75978 Diagon Alley and 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition before it, though, we wouldn’t be surprised to see this set reference multiple movies, complete with vault 713 and the Philosopher’s Stone.

Details such as price, piece count and release date are yet to be confirmed, but the LEGO Harry Potter design team has been teasing a big announcement for today. 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition is also listed on the LEGO Group’s building instructions server (confirming the full set name we’re running with here), which typically happens just ahead of a full reveal at LEGO.com. So… you do the maths.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
