First look at LEGO Ideas 21352 Magic of Disney

A LEGO Certified Store has published the first images of 21352 Magic of Disney, an upcoming LEGO Ideas set inspired by the House of Mouse’s 100th anniversary.

Initially designed by LEGO Ideas user 2A2A for last year’s Disney 100th anniversary contest, the 1,103-piece set sticks to the format of the original submission, with a giant Sorcerer Mickey surrounded by vignettes from across the studio’s history. The LEGO Group has swapped out almost all of the characters suggested by 2A2A for alternatives, however – which means there are plenty of new minifigures in the box.

The full roster includes Simba (The Lion King), Geppetto (Pinocchio), Lilo (Lilo and Stitch), Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Bruno (Encanto), Sebastian and Flounder (The Little Mermaid) and the animated brooms from Fantasia. That means Ariel, Pinnochio, Aladdin, Stitch and Elsa have not made the cut from the original pitch, but those would all have been reused minifigures anyway.

21352 Magic of Disney will apparently retail for €109.99 in Greece, or the same price as 21334 Jazz Quartet, so we’re probably looking at a wider international price of £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99. It’s apparently due to release October 1, and it looks like this will be that rare LEGO Ideas set that’s widely available from day one rather than exclusive to official channels, as it’s also shown up at Danish retailer BR and Hong Kong retailer HobbyDigi.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
