First look at LEGO Minecraft 21249 The Crafting Box 4.0

LEGO Minecraft 21249 The Crafting Box 4.0 has two possible builds, but you’ll only want to bother with one, according to an early review.

Ahead of its release on August 1, LEGO Minecraft 21249 The Crafting Box 4.0, LEGO YouTuber AshnFlash has got his hands on the 605-piece set for an early review. While he enjoyed much of the build, he has his reservations about one of the alternate builds. Nonetheless, the Cat Cottage impressed AshnFlash with its new elements and bright variety of colours.

“The colours on this just really pop,” says the LEGO YouTuber. “There’s a lot going on here that is really quite impressive.”

When he came to the second possible build, however, AshnFlash could only describe the River Towers as “so boring”.

“These are just two towers, they’re not exciting, they’ve got this bridge going across here, the TNT will drop, the door opens… It’s just boring in my opinion,” he concluded. The YouTuber refrained from building the second build, stating that he didn’t want to waste both his own and the viewer’s time with a subpar build.

AshnFlash went on to lament that the other alternate builds, showcased in the building instructions for 21250 The Iron Golem Fortress, aren’t included in the instructions, as they look far more detailed and impressive than the rather two-dimensional River Towers. However, instructions for these are not included in the set, although you can most likely work out how to build them from the images with a bit of trial and error.

Overall, however, the LEGO YouTuber liked the Cat Cottage in and of itself, introducing new elements for the cats and offering an engaging build experience (so long as you pick the right alternate build). LEGO Minecraft 21249 The Crafting Box 4.0 is available to pre-order now for £64.99 / $79.99 / €74.99 via LEGO.com, ahead of its release on August 1.
