Five of the biggest LEGO sets of 2024, made tiny

Not everyone has the space – or the budget – for all the biggest LEGO sets as they’re released, so these custom builds might be the only way to get your hands on them.

2024 has had no shortage of huge LEGO sets, ranging from licensed sets of mammoth structures like 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr to real-life architectural feats like 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris. The larger the set, the larger the price tag, of course, so it’s likely you won’t have ticked all of those larger builds of your list just yet.

Indeed, if you’re pushed for shelf space and are looking for something more the size of a desk buddy, custom builders on Rebrickable might have the answer. Tiny versions of some of the largest LEGO sets of the year are already available, offering a more budget and space-friendly alternative for these sprawling sets.

LEGO Icons 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr

First up is 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr, reduced from 5,471 pieces to 967 by christromans. The custom build, priced at £6.50 for the instructions, still comes in four modular parts like the official build and depicts the fiery eye and dramatic black silhouette of Sauron’s lair. If you like this, it’s worth checking out the builder’s profile with an entire bundle of tiny Lord of the Rings-themed builds on offer.

LEGO Architecture 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris

Next up is 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris, the second biggest set of the year so far at 4,383 pieces. Taters has shrunk down the iconic building to just 118 parts, a large bulk of which is a black base to make it easy to display and arrange. It might be small but not detail has been left out, form the same trees that decorate the larger LEGO Architecture set to the spire on top of the church itself.

LEGO Technic 42172 McLaren P1

42172 McLaren P1 raced onto shelves 3,893 pieces this year but rkt2232 has recreated it out of just 305 pieces. The style has echoes of the LEGO Technic set, featuring the butterfly doors and black paint job on the sides. We particularly like the use of teeth for headlights, a creative solution when shrinking cars down to this size.

LEGO Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square

All three parts of 10332 Medieval Town Square have been recreated in miniature by christromans, bringing the piece count from 3,304 pieces to 732 pieces. The styles of each of the different buildings has been authentically replicated, down to the smoke plumes coming out of the chimneys and the red and yellow flag atop the tower.

LEGO Icons 10326 Natural History Museum

One more from christromans, although 10326 Natural History Museum might not technically have come out in 2024 but is often referred to as the 2024 modular building, seeing as it came out in December rather than January. We also just couldn’t resist including the picture-perfect custom build of the set, featuring tiny columns and even a cherry blossom tree outside.

I follow christromans on Instagram and their builds are awesome! I haven’t bought any of the instructions yet, but I definitely plan to once my big builds are done. Absolutely worth looking at.
