Four LEGO Harry Potter sets long overdue for a remake

LEGO Harry Potter is returning to plenty of classic sets this year, but there are still some that are long overdue for a remake.

With 76437 The Burrow now confirmed, various other recent releases like 76428 Hagrid’s Hut: An Unexpected Visit and 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank – Collectors’ Edition, and the rumoured microscale Diagon Alley, the LEGO Group has been returning to some of the earliest LEGO Harry Potter sets ever released. While much of the ground has already been trodden, there are still some sets that deserve a remake.

We’ve picked out four LEGO Harry Potter sets released between 2001 and 2005 that deserve a modern recreation.

4704 The Chamber of the Winged Keys

4704 The Chamber of the Winged Keys depicts the scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, where Harry, Ron, and Hermione battle a room full of keys on brooms to find the right key for the door. For some reason, Hermione has been omitted despite this being one of the challenges that the trio do as a team.

The 2001 build is fairly limited at just 175 bricks but the room in the movie is very dramatic. It could easily be recreated in a similar style 76430 Hogwarts Castle Owlery, considering it’s hidden inside a tall, narrow room that’s likely a tower from the outside. A new version of the set could also finally include Hermione, alongside new designs of the keys.

4706 Forbidden Corridor

Also released in 4706 Forbidden Corridor, this scene offers plenty of play opportunities, between the trapdoor hidden Fluffy the three-headed dog and the Devil’s Snare below. With LEGO Harry Potter working on building up a new multi-set version of Hogwarts Castle, this section could also connect the rest of the school to a remade version of 4704 The Chamber of the Winged Keys, creating a Philosopher’s Stone wing of the wizarding school.

4720 Knockturn Alley

Considering we’ve got various versions of Diagon Alley, it’s long past time that we got Knockturn Alley once again. The shopping area of choice for dark wizards, it offers the chance for a grittier retail street, featuring shops from the movies like Borgin and Burkes. This could also be an opportunity to flesh out some more Death Eater minifigures, like Fenrir Greyback, Narcissa Malfoy, and more.

4766 Graveyard Duel

Last but not least, 4766 Graveyard Duel features the pivotal scene from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when Voldemort makes his return. While it’s had one remake with 2019’s 75965 The Rise of Voldemort, that set is now retired, so there’s the chance to do a fresh retelling five years on.

Once again, there’s plenty of opportunities for play, with moving graves to hide Harry behind, or even some sort of transformative cauldron with a hidden section that actually recreates the Dark Lord’s rebirth. Whatever the possibilities, the graveyard scene certainly offers a dramatic enough backdrop to warrant a new version.
