Four more LEGO Tim Burton movie-inspired sets we want to see

LEGO Ideas 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas may be arriving in just a few weeks, but there are four more sets based on Tim Burton movies we want.

The LEGO Group this week unveiled 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas, a 2,193-piece set priced at £169.99 / $199.99 / €199.99. The LEGO Ideas model will be available for Insiders on September 3, while everyone else will be able to sink their teeth into the creepy construct from September 6.

The latest LEGO set to be inspired by the unique work of filmmaker Tim Burton certainly isn’t the first though, with the likes of 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns having already provided the blueprints for many a model.

However, Burton’s eclectic filmography stretches way beyond simple superhero fare and so with that in mind, here are four more LEGO sets based on the director’s work that we want to see at some point in the future.

4 – Edward Scissorhands

Released in 1990, Edward Scissorhands starred Johnny Depp in a gothic romantic fantasy film about an unfinished artificial humanoid with scissor blades for hands. A critical and commercial success at the box office, the film’s laboratory and house locations (complete with animal-shaped topiary), plus a unique mix of characters to draw upon for minifigures, could make this an impressive LEGO set indeed.

3 – Mars Attacks!

Despite plenty of ray gun-related graphic violence, Burton’s 1996 black comedy sci-fi film is ripe for being turned into a LEGO model. Featuring an all-star cast and a retro 50’s feel, the movie’s mix of horror and comedy has mostly disappeared from the public’s consciousness, making it the right time to bring the property back as a brick-built offering, complete with UFOs and oversized skull brain Martian minifigures.

2 – Sleepy Hollow

Another dark Burton film with aspects of horror and humour is Sleepy Hollow, although there’s certainly potential here for an 18+ LEGO Ideas set. Set in 1799, the film follows New York police constable Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp), as he attempts to solve a series of spooky murders allegedly perpetrated by a ghostly headless horseman (Christopher Walken).

1 – Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Fans have been waiting over 30 years for a sequel to Burton’s 1988 cult classic and that’s exactly what they’ll be getting on September 6. Michael Keaton’s ghost with the most returns to do what he does best in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, with the character having previously appeared in a LEGO Dimensions Fun Pack. Throw in a massive brick-built sandworm, a selection of creepy minifigure characters and consider us sold.

You’ll be able to get your hands on the latest Tim Burton-inspired LEGO model when 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas arrives from September 3, for £169.99 / $199.99 / €199.99.
