Four of the best nostalgic LEGO sets to grab at a discount

This summer’s new LEGO sets include a nostalgic assortment of builds paying tribute to classic themes, some of which are available at a discount.

While the LEGO Group is always moving forward, it’s important to remember the many themes that have come and gone over the years and this summer, that seems to be a major focus for the LEGO designers across multiple themes. Some retailers are already dishing out discounts on these sets too, including GAME in the UK.

From Exo-Force to Ultra agents, here are four of the best nostalgic LEGO sets from summer 2024 that can be yours at a discount right now.

60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck – Adventurers

LEGO City is feeling especially nostalgic this summer thanks in part to 60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck. The 314-piece set usually would cost £24.99 but GAME has it in stock for £19.99 complete with an exclusive Tiger and three minifigures.

Of those minifigures, longtime LEGO fans should be able to recognise an older Johnny Thunder complete with more facial hair than usual on the search for another treasure. This classic LEGO Adventurers character appears in another LEGO City summer 2024 set but this is the only build to feature the tiger piece.

60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park – Exo-Force and more

Those looking for a blast of LEGO nostalgia this summer need look no further than 60421 Robot World Roller-Coaster Park. GAME is stocking this model for £72 instead of £89.99 now.

While the Exo-Force reference (a recreation of 7700 Stealth Hunter) is the most obvious Easter egg, turn the build around and you’ll find homages to Collectible Minifigures, Alien Conquest, BIONICLE and more.

60424 Jungle Explorer ATV Red Panda Mission – Adventurers

Those not as interested in the Tiger-exclusive 60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck but still wanting the updated Johnny Thunder minifigure might want to consider 60424 Jungle Explorer ATV Red Panda Mission for £7.00 instead of £8.99 at GAME instead.

This bite-sized build still includes the new Johnny Thunder minifigure for Adventurers enthusiasts but it’s also one of only a couple of sets to feature the new red panda element. It’s a more affordable alternative to 60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck but with the caveat that you don’t get nearly as much to build.

71818 Tournament Battle Arena – Ultra Agents

It’s not just LEGO City that longtime LEGO enthusiasts can get nostalgic with this summer though as a returning NINJAGO character is also paying tribute to Ultra Agents. 71818 Tournament Battle Arena has a great selection of minifigures with a few exclusive characters, including Tox’s second minifigure. It can be yours at GAME now for £36 instead of £44.99

Tox (furthest to the right in the above image) is a NINJAGO character who initially borrowed the character design of Ultra Agents Toxikita, now having been redesigned to be original while still paying tribute to the core concepts of the Ultra Agents villain. To make this reference even clearer, the back of Tox’s jacket features Toxikita’s symbol from Ultra Agents.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
