Earn a free LEGO Fortnite Katalina skin via the new Epic Games Store

Downloading the Fortnite mobile app on the new Epic Games Store will earn you a free Katalina skin that’s playable in LEGO Fortnite.

The new Epic Games Store is available for download on iPhones in the EU and on Android devices worldwide from today (August 16), with an initial launch featuring Fortnite (including LEGO Fortnite), Rocket League Sideswipe, and the all-new Fall Guys for mobile. Epic has confirmed in a statement that it’s working to enable all developers to launch their games and apps through the Epic Games Store in the future.

This comes after a long battle between Epic Games and Apple to get the store on the market, starting with Fortnite being pulled from both Apple and Google app stores in 2020 and a number of lengthy legal and regulatory cases since then. The Digital Markets Act in the EU means that the Epic Games Store has launched for iOS in Europe but not worldwide as on Android.

“The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder at Epic Games. “We are grateful to the European Commission for making it possible to launch the Epic Games Store and offer our games to iOS users in the European Union.”

Regardless of the ongoing legal processes, those in the EU can already download the app on iOS and Android users can download it worldwide – and doing so will earn you a free LEGO Fortnite skin. Blue-haired and pink-cat-eared Katalina is free to any who downloads and plays Fortnite, including a LEGO-fied skin for those who play LEGO Fortnite. You’ll need to gain x100,000 XP via quests while playing on mobile to unlock the Katalina Outfit.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
