LEGO Star Wars 40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder revealed

This year’s LEGO Star Wars line-up wraps up in October with 40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder, a remake of two 2008 battle packs that also features our final 25th-anniversary minifigure.

The 383-piece set recreates 7667 Imperial Dropship and 7668 Rebel Scout Speeder, which were the very first original trilogy-era battle packs and included four minifigures apiece. This remake bundles both sets into one box and trims each faction down to three characters, then adds on QT-KT, the seventh and final LEGO Star Wars 25th anniversary minifigure released in 2024 sets.

The Shadow Stormtrooper from the 2008 set (and its 2019 remake 75262 Imperial Dropship – 20th Anniversary Edition) is absent altogether now, but you do get three regular Stormtroopers and three Rebel Fleet Troopers. It’s another way to amass armies of these generic soldiers beyond 75387 Boarding the Tantive IV, and here you won’t end up with tonnes of Darth Vader, Captain Antilles and ARC Trooper Fives. Instead you’ll get a battalion of pink astromech droids. Cute.

40755 Imperial Dropship vs. Rebel Scout Speeder is also a good bit cheaper than the Tantive IV playset, coming in at £34.99 in the UK, $39.99 in the US and €39.99 in Europe. You’ll be able to get your hands on it from October 1, but like last year’s 40658 Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama, it will be exclusive to LEGO.com and LEGO Stores – and will likely only be on shelves for a few months before retiring at the end of the year.

Combining army-building potential with nostalgia seems like a recipe for a sell-out set, so don’t expect this one to receive any discounts to shift surplus stock (a fate that ultimately befell last year’s sequel trilogy set). If you want to guarantee your copy, best toss it in the bag alongside the newly-revealed 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
