Kia is bringing a full-size LEGO car to Milan’s Design Week

Just as the LEGO Group launches the tiny LEGO Technic 42156 Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar, Kia unveils a full-size brick-built car.

After 800 hours spread across four months, Kia has put the finishing touches on a LEGO version of the car brand’s EV6, to debut at Milan Design Week. Scaled 1:1, it’s made out of 350,000 LEGO bricks and captures every detail of the real-life car.

It was commissioned by Kia Italy and built by BrickVision, an Italian company founded by the country’s only LEGO Certified Professional, Riccardo Zangelmi and specialising in brick accessories, stickers, and more. For extra realism, the LEGO EV6 also has a functional lighting system, to give it an even more realistic appearance of the real car.

Nicknamed ‘Brick To The Future’, Kia sees the LEGO EV6 as a symbol of a ‘new and inspiring path towards sustainable mobility’. It will be on display on April 17 at Milan Design Week, before going into an exhibition at the Kia Energy House in Rome. The actual E6 went on sale back in 2021 and has since earned the accolade of the World Performance Car of the Year in the 2023 World Car of the Year Awards.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

Wir haben ebenfalls einen Kia. Daher ist es toll, solch ein großes Modell zu sehen. Meinen Sohn wird das auch sehr freuen.
