LEGO 41839 Message Board officially revealed

The LEGO Group has unveiled another new set in what may or may not be a new ‘Family’ theme, this time in the form of 41839 Message Board.

Following on sequentially from 41838 Family Travel Memories in what’s rumoured to be a theme titled ‘Family’ – although that branding has yet to appear on LEGO.com41839 Message Board includes 1,743 pieces, which together build up to 30 different characters from the Latin alphabet. It feels like a spiritual successor to LEGO DOTS41952 Big Message Board, only with a more involved build.

It also includes enough elements to add accents to letters, so you’re not limited to the English alphabet (just the Latin one), as well as designs for punctuation marks and symbols. And it’s designed specifically with families in mind – there’s that label again – as up to five people can build simultaneously using the LEGO Builder app, much like 41838 Family Travel Memories.

Alongside traditional paper instructions, you’ll also find 10 emoji stickers and four posters in the box to provide inspiration and decoration for your messages. Examples shown on LEGO.com and the set’s packaging include ‘Everything is awesome’, ‘Our family fun love @ home!’, and ‘Home your is bricks where are’. (The LEGO Group knows what it’s doing with that last one.)

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
