LEGO Harry Potter Back to Hogwarts event confirmed – sales, free gifts and more

The LEGO Group has announced a brand new ‘Back to Hogwarts’ promotional event, which will include new sets, free gifts and discounts on LEGO Harry Potter products.

Running from September 1 to 10, the Back to Hogwarts event will include the debut of ‘new sets, gifts, sales, challenges and more’, exclusively at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores. At the moment, we know that 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition and 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds are both launching on September 1 (the former exclusively for LEGO Insiders until September 4), alongside this year’s Harry Potter advent calendar.

The splash page for the promo also points to the previously-announced make-and-take event in LEGO Stores for a Harry Potter wand, while instructions are available online for fans without a LEGO Store in close proximity. Elsewhere, there’s the designer signings for 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors’ Edition with Justin Ramsden, Peter Kjaergaard and George Gilliatt.

LEGO.com only lists four dates for the designer signing tour, but the designers themselves have confirmed seven in total – check out the table below for a full round-up of those.

Further details – such as what the free gifts will be, which sets will be included in the sale, and what the challenges will encompass – have yet to be confirmed, but all will presumably be revealed on September 1. A discount on 75978 Diagon Alley to mark Gringotts’ debut would be timely (if not especially likely), while any gift-with-purchase is sure to tie into the new Wizarding World direct-to-consumer set.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
