Look inside LEGO’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2024

Take a look inside the LEGO Group’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, which celebrates the year of space – and includes plenty of new sets on show.

The LEGO Group has gone all-out for its SDCC booth again for 2024, following the high bar set by last year’s Blockbuster-themed booth. This year convention attendees will be able to enjoy a colourful space-themed booth that taps into the company’s wider celebration of all things space in 2024, with sets across themes including City, Friends, Art, Minifigures, Technic and more.

Nerdist has published an exclusive walkthrough of the booth, which is branded ‘Space Station 8R1CK5’ and is decked out in blues and purples – calling back to the banner used across LEGO space-themed sets in 2024, and the primary colours of 31212 The Milky Way Galaxy. The booth’s design generally leans heavily into geometric shapes and sci-fi motifs.

Visitors to the booth will be greeted by building stations, model displays, a giant LEGO Space logo and even a life-sized brick-built astronaut. There are obviously plenty of LEGO Space sets on show, including this year’s Technic range, but there are also brand new sets revealed for the first time – including 75388 Jedi Bob’s Starfighter, 71047 Dungeons & Dragons and 77000 Shadow the Hedgehog.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars and the LEGO Group is celebrating at San Diego Comic-Con with enormous brick-built statues of R2-D2 and Jedi Vader. The latter turns up as a minifigure in August’s 75389 The Dark Falcon, hooked to upcoming Disney+ special Rebuild the Galaxy, and envisions a redeemed Dark Lord of the Sith in white armour.

As well as its LEGO NINJAGO and LEGO MASTERS panels, the LEGO Group is hosting a ‘build your own rocket’ experience at its booth. Once you’ve built your rocket, you can see it take off in front of an LCD backdrop – and everyone who takes part will receive an exclusive embroidered mission patch, marking the first true LEGO exclusive of San Diego Comic-Con 2024.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
