LEGO City may honour the 2024 Space range’s best feature in 2025

The multi-theme space range is not rumoured to return in favour of the 2025 Formula 1 collection, but it may not be gone entirely from LEGO City

The LEGO Group’s first foray into a multi-theme campaign of sets based on a specific subject – space for 2024 – is back next year with a Formula 1 makeover. Many models are rumoured for the collaboration, including from LEGO City

These rumoured sets can be spotted in the latest reported list of models from reliable Instagram user a.clay.brick as well as other race cars, a scrapyard and more. One set on the rumoured list stands out though, despite the decidedly varied selection.

60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship is the only space set on the list (unless there’s a huge surprise in store for one of the other rumoured models). Including ‘modular’ in the set name would be an interesting inclusion as the 2024 LEGO Space sets featured a singular modular function.

Many of the LEGO 2024 space sets included a special air-lock element from City to Technic and even Friends. This allowed certain modules to connect and be interchanged to make custom space creations with ease. We’d note that the piece debuted in 2019 but its potential wasn’t fully realised until 2024.

‘Modular’ can mean many things in the LEGO portfolio and the rumoured 60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship could be modular in an entirely different way than continuing the use of this air-lock element. That said, many of the builds that it is compatible with will not retire until 2025 or later at the time of writing

A piece count and price are not currently rumoured for 60446 Modular Galactic Spaceship, but a build of any size could theoretically include the air-lock piece.

It would be a great way of carrying on the legacy of the stellar space range into 2025 while not taking away from the focus of next year – Formula 1. The ship could be modular in other ways too and it stands out as one of the most curious sets on the list of rumoured LEGO City 2025 sets.
