LEGO cuts modular building shelf life short, but extends botanicals

The LEGO Group has cut 10312 Jazz Club’s shelf life short by a full year, while simultaneously extending the production run of several botanical sets.

The full list of LEGO Icons sets retiring in 2024 is effectively locked in at this point, but that hasn’t stopped the LEGO Group from shuffling the pack for 2025 and beyond. 10312 Jazz Club – one of the most recent modular buildings – was originally destined to stay on shelves until 2026, but will now retire by the end of 2025 at the very latest.

Likewise the latest Winter Village set (until this year’s inevitable addition joins the line-up) 10325 Alpine Lodge, which will now enjoy just over two years in production instead of the three originally planned. The other currently-available Winter Village model 10308 Holiday Main Street is scheduled to retire in 2024, so a two-year shelf life may be the new norm for this LEGO Icons collection.

While you may want to bump those two sets up your wishlist (at least as we head into 2025), you’ve got plenty of time to catch up on the Botanical Collection. Sales of these sets must be blooming in Billund, as five different plant-based builds have received extensions to their shelf lives: 10280 Flower Bouquet, 10281 Bonsai Tree, 10309 Succulents and 10311 Orchid were all due to retire in 2025, but will now stay in production until at least the end of 2026.

10313 Wildflower Bouquet, meanwhile, is now slated to retire in 2027 – a full two years after its previous exit date. The newly-announced 10340 Wreath and 10370 Poinsettia have also been handed three-year shelf lives, so you’ve got plenty of time to snag those festive sets. That means the only Botanical Collection set that will have retired by the end of 2024 is 10314 Dried Flower Centrepiece.

Check out the full roster of LEGO Icons sets organised by their current retirement date below. Nine different sets are due to depart LEGO Stores in 2024, of which 10320 Eldorado Fortress and 10321 Corvette should be high on your radar for being relatively recent releases (and very good sets to boot). Remember that these dates are subject to change, so check back regularly for updates.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
