The LEGO D&D CMFs have inspired the community already

It’s been one week since the LEGO D&D minifigures launched and already, they’ve inspired the community to compare and create.

On September 1, the latest series of minifigures was released into the wild, offering 12 characters inspired by or based specifically on Dungeons & Dragons’ extensive lore. They seem to be going down well so far and have driven the community to be especially creative.

Following our initial exploration of the online community’s reactions to 71047 Dungeons & Dragons a day after launch, we’re back one week on to see how LEGO and D&D enthusiasts alike have been getting on with the latest series of minifigures. Those searching for a specific minifigure in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons can use Brick Search to scan the boxes and find your favourite character.

Over on the main LEGO Reddit, reactions to 71047 Dungeons & Dragons started with pictures of hauls but have now evolved one week later into custom minifigures, comparisons with similar minifigures from retired themes and more.

True_Vinnie‘s custom vampire tourist using parts of the Alien Tourist from 71046 Series 26 Space is especially tempting and ASortaOkayBuilder has demonstrated just how similar the new LEGO dragon is to an older LEGO Castle element.

Arguably the most impressive custom creation inspired by 71047 Dungeons & Dragons comes from joshtudor. They have devised a 6,000-piece model that showcases all 12 minifigures in a multi-layered scene. Those without the parts or budget may be better off with 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale but there’s no denying that joshtudor has rolled a natural 20 on their model-making.

Over on the LEGO D&D reddit, who have likely been having their best year yet in 2024, BuildsByBenjamin has paired Tasha with the walking hut from 71478 The Never Witch’s Midnight Raven due to her connection with Baba Yaga.

Barryc13 has been similarly inspired by other LEGO sets and has combined the Dragonborn Paladin with similar minifigures from LEGO Ideas and LEGO VIDIYO. The LEGO VIDIYO dragon heads are no longer available, but the green variant can be found in 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale.

Mealafraid8771 has been inspired to collect as many Mind Flayers and Intellect Devourers as possible for a scene featuring a small army of them. This means that they’ll have a lot of the printed stands but xpostfactomalone has a solution and is hoping to collect as many as possible for custom paths with exposed studs.

It will be interesting to see just how the community reacts to and uses 71047 Dungeons & Dragons in the months to come before the series is scheduled to retire at the end of 2024. For now, 71047 Dungeons & Dragons is available at £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 per boxed minifigure, and you can read our review by clicking here

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
