LEGO Dimensions lives on in LEGO Ideas, but what’s left?

New announcements for LEGO Ideas confirm that another pair of franchises from LEGO Dimensions are getting full sets, leaving little left to cover.

The legacy of LEGO Dimensions can be felt throughout the current portfolio, from Sonic the Hedgehog now with a full theme to The Goonies and Gremlins confirmed for future LEGO Ideas sets.

Suffice it to say the toy-based video game from TT Games has had a huge impact on LEGO sets and following the recent confirmation of LEGO Ideas The Goonies and Gremlins models, there’s not a lot left from the game to cover in full builds.

Whether they received a set before or after their LEGO Dimensions appearance, we’re not counting them for this list. Here’s every franchise that appeared in LEGO Dimensions that has yet to receive a set or have one announced.

Portal 2

Valve’s Portal franchise might have seemed to be an odd pick for LEGO Dimensions’ first year, but it did introduce a new element for the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. The game-based franchise has been proposed to return via LEGO Ideas a couple of times but so far, no projects have been successful.

Midway Arcade

Midway Arcade was featured in LEGO Dimensions as a collection of arcade games from the now-defunct company, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment owning most of its assets. The LEGO Group has experience with arcade-based sets thanks to 10323 PAC-MAN Arcade, and games featured in LEGO Dimensions include Spy Hunter, Rampage and Defender.

Mission: Impossible

LEGO Dimensions was packed with franchises from the ‘80s but there were some more modern properties in the mix too, including Mission: Impossible. The pack is based on the film series, not the 1966 TV series and features a minifigure of Ethan Hunt. Whether it has much chance of returning for another set is uncertain compared to other franchises.

The A-Team

LEGO Ideas users have tried to bring back LEGO The A-Team following its brief stint in LEGO Dimensions via a single Fun Pack including B.A. Baracus. It was similarly pitched for a set in the LEGO Ideas ‘80s challenge that is bringing us The Goonies and Gremlins as full models.

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Much like The A-Team, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was proposed for a set via the recent LEGO Ideas challenge multiple times. It has also been pitched for a model via a standard project but so far, E.T. remains exclusive to LEGO Dimensions.

Teen Titans Go!

The Teen Titans have been scattered across various LEGO DC sets over the years but there have been no minifigures or models based specifically on the Teen Titans Go! animated series outside LEGO Dimensions. In LEGO Dimensions, the franchise received three physical minifigures across two packs.

Knight Rider

Should the LEGO Group be looking for more ‘80s IP to recreate in LEGO sets, Knight Rider would be a suitable pick after its LEGO Dimensions debut. LEGO Ideas users have pitched a set based on the vehicle-centric series before but have had no luck so far.

Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice was pitched in the ‘80s IP LEGO Ideas challenge countless times and while it has not been confirmed for a full set just yet, it’s not off the table completely since it was accepted in the IP-based contest. The initial LEGO Dimensions pack uses no new parts and includes a singular minifigure of the titular character.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

Honestly the only resin this theme died out is because no one was playing the game even though so many people where buying these for the collectable figures! Personally I loved these sets as they usually have great greebly bits and parts.
And every single set I got never ever had a miss-printed fig, which sadly is all to common these days. But when you buy a $200-$300 set you’d think you should at least get a mint figure….. guess not.
