More LEGO Disney Collectable Minifigures that need massive sets

The latest LEGO Ideas set brings back a pair of LEGO Disney Collectable Minifigures and there are many more that need such a model.

Simon Scott’s LEGO Ideas 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas may be based on a fan-designed project but it comes from a partnership that was born via a pair of LEGO Disney Collectable Minifigures.

71024 Disney Series 2 from 2019 includes the first minifigures of Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas. They were released one year before Scott’s initial project based on the Tim Burton classic was pitched, specifically naming them as inspirations, but the LEGO Ideas minifigures aren’t the same as the 2019 pair

LEGO Disney has a growing range of big builds based on singular movies, including those for Frozen, Snow White and The Little Mermaid. Whether through this or a fan-designed project on LEGO Ideas, there are many more LEGO Disney Collectable Minifigures that would benefit from a big build, including a few with no sets to their name.

5 – Miguel and Ernesto de la Cruz

Given the animated movie’s popularity, it’s surprising to see that Coco has yet to receive any full-sized sets. Instead, the film’s only representation is through two minifigures in 71038 Disney 100

A massive model based on Coco would be able to properly capture the colourful architecture of the Land of the Dead. The LEGO Group is familiar with Día de Muertos thanks to 40492 La Catrina and a LEGO Store-exclusive minifigure. Building on these with a set celebrating both the Disney Pixar movie and the important holiday would be more feasible using the film for recognition.

4 – Tiana and Dr. Facilier

The Princess and the Frog has an animated series on the way and while Tiana is accustomed to mini-doll models, she also has a minifigure from 71038 Disney 100 alongside Dr. Facilier. Tiana is one of several Disney princesses and queens with a minifigure, though few have

Frozen has yet to receive a massive minifigure-based model but it did have one for its mini-dolls in the form of 43197 The Ice Castle. Snow White has had better luck with 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage though. Tiana would benefit from a big minifigure-based set as Tiana’s Palace is perfectly poised for an open-back playset similar to the Snow White model.

3 – Hades and Hercules

Hades and Hercules are featured in the retired 71024 Disney Series 2. Though the animated movie of the same name arguably isn’t quite as memorable in the modern day as Frozen and even Snow White, a set based on the movie could serve another purpose.

Beyond several minifigures, Greek mythology and architecture haven’t had much time in the LEGO spotlight and with the Disney branding, a Hercules set could inspire a creation that finally brings Greek architecture to brick-built life, expanding on what we saw in 7985 City of Atlantis.

2 – Alice, the Cheshire Cat and the Queen of Hearts

Alice in Wonderland has been surprisingly common across the three Disney Collectable Minifigures, represented in both 71024 Disney Series 2 and 71038 Disney 100. The whimsical world of Wonderland would be an incredibly colourful subject matter for a LEGO set to depict.

The Disney classic falls into a similar category as Snow White, which has been lucky enough to receive a massive model recently. 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage expands on the initial Snow White minifigures with the dwarfs too. Thanks to The LEGO Batman Movie, The Mad Hatter has the perfect piece ready for a big Alice in Wonderland model and an expansion to the LEGO Alice in Wonderland cast.

1 – Stitch

While Stitch has been the subject of a second LEGO Disney Collectable Minifigure and a sizable set in the form of 43249 Stitch, the animated series is ripe for more LEGO models from its various spaceships to the beachfront home of Lilo and Stitch.

LEGO Lilo & Stitch is already well underway thanks to 43249 Stitch, the two minifigures and 40674 Stitch. While Disney has been welcoming massive LEGO models recently, a mid-sized build with just two minifigures should suit this series well too. A small diorama similar to 43232 Peter Pan & Wendy’s Flight over London seems ideal.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
