LEGO 71047 Dungeons & Dragons carries on LEGO Castle’s minifigure legacy

LEGO Castle influences pop up across many themes – but rarely as well as in LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71047 Dungeons & Dragons.

With LEGO Castle no longer being a fully-fledged theme, it can be hard at times to find sets with parts or minifigures to expand on a central castle- or medieval-themed build like 10305 Lion Knights’ Castle or 10332 Medieval Town Square. If you own one of these larger sets, you pretty much need to buy another one of them to expand that world – but no longer.

71047 Dungeons & Dragons singlehandedly introduces a number of characters who can seamlessly integrate into a medieval scene. With the exception of perhaps the Lady of Pain and the Mindflayer, all of the other ten characters could fit in with ease. This isn’t wholly new for LEGO Collectible Minifigures series, with 71034 Series 23 also featuring a LEGO Castle deep cut, for example, but rarely do we see so many LEGO Castle-appropriate minifigures in a single series.

Characters like the Dwarf Barbarian and Tasha the Witch Queen would look at home in any LEGO Castle setting, with few indications that they hail from a fantasy franchise. While some of the others might appear more fantastical thanks to features like pointed ears for the Gith Warlock and the Elf Bard or antlers and horns in the case of the Halfling Druid and the Tiefling Sorcerer, the torsos and legs are excellent to have in your minifigure bank to create more medieval characters.

The variety of characters in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons mean the full series is a treasure trove of armour, medieval clothing, weapons, and old-school accessories, like musical instruments, a spell book, and even a tiny dragon familiar. For LEGO Castle fans wanting to add more depth to their brick-built world or even inject a little fantasy into their medieval settings, look no further than 71047 Dungeons & Dragons.

Of course, to be able to play around with the new elements and accessories, you need to be able to find them first. I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
