LEGO Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone is bananas but familiar
LEGO Fortnite’s four new sets include the unique 77072 Peely Bone but the set should look familiar, despite its inherently bananas nature.
The first full (and so far only) LEGO Fortnite sets have been revealed with pre-orders open now worldwide and they’re an undoubtedly varied assortment including an 18+ model already. 77072 Peely Bone is a sculpture of the in-game outfit of the same name complete with a matching pickaxe, Back Bling and the Paint Launcher but one portion of this model should look familiar.
We’re not talking about the Peely minifigure that appears in 77073 Battle Bus, representing another of the character’s outfits, as this set has another familiar aspect linked to a surprisingly recent set.
The tip of the banana pickaxe features a clever array of building techniques to best capture the appearance of a peeled banana and its proportions are the same as 75580 Minions and Banana Car‘ banana build, but this time there isn’t a car in the middle.
Considering the Minions’ infatuation with bananas, any of the LEGO Despicable Me 4 sets could pair surprisingly well with 77072 Peely Bone – especially including 75580 Minions and Banana Car and the statue-esque 75582 Brick-Built Gru and Minions.
It’s an unlikely pairing, even more so when you consider that these sets are both launching or have been released in 2024. It goes to show that the LEGO Group’s designers are impressed with this take on brick-built bananas and it will be interesting to see where else these proportions appear in the future.
In the meantime, 75580 Minions and Banana Car is available now and 77072 Peely Bone launches on October 1, 2024, but pre-orders are open now.
